100 Years of Impact
One Delicious Mission
Nurturing farms, families, and the future through organic excellence. From how our cows are raised and cared for to the processing and production of all things dairy, Rumiano is committed to sustainability in every aspect of our operations.
Rooted in Tradition
Growing Sustainably
Founded in 1919, Rumiano partnered with small family producers across the Northern California bioregion to stabilize milk commodities and create a collective competitive advantage.
For over a century, we’ve led the way in producing pasture-raised organic cheese and butter that reflects our dedication to quality and puts sustainability, innovation, and community development at the core of everything we do.

Community Commitment
We pay local farms fair milk prices for their careful stewardship of the land and environmentally friendly farming practices.

Local production
Our dairies are within a 100-mile radius of our cheese making facility to reduce food miles, lower our carbon footprint and ensure product freshness.

RECYCLED WATER
87% of our daily water use is recycled from the cheese making process in our in-house treatment plant allowing us to clean and reuse approximately 48,000 gallons daily.

Certified credentials
We adhere to the rigorous standards required to maintain USDA Organic, American Humane, and NON-GMO Verified Certifications.
Where Flavor Begins
At Rumiano, extraordinary cheese starts with extraordinary care, from the fertile soils of Northern California to the happy cows with year-round pasture access and the family farms that supply our nutritious, delicious organic milk.

The land
The temperate climate and soil conditions of the Redwood Coast grow natural biodiverse pastures as the foundation for our dairy systems.

Our Farmers
Local family farmers work the land and provide proper care and nutrition for the animals for the next generation.

Happy Cows
Spacious living and year-round access to lush pastures provide cows better quality nutrition (for better quality cheese).

Sustainable Practices
Farming as it should be (small scale, no-till, open pastures) is better for the soil, the animals, our food systems and our planet
