Maple Ginger French Toast Grilled Cheese Sandwich

  • 1 Anjou Pear
  • 1/8 teaspoon Sugar
  • 6 slices Bacon
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Maple Syrup
  • 2 teaspoons Ginger Powder
  • 2 oz Cream Cheese
  • 2 teaspoons Brown Sugar
  • 4 slices Italian Bread
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter, softened
  • 4 slices American Cheese

1. Peel and cut pear into four. Core and cut each quartered pear into 1/4 inch thick slices. 2. Scatter sugar into a large skillet. Place bacons into the skillet and cook both sides of bacons over medium heat until crisp and nicely caramelized. Drain on paper towels. Discard the excess bacon fat in the skillet and return to the stove. Put pears into the skillet and cook over medium heat until lightly brown flipping once. 3. In a large shallow bowl, beat eggs, add milk, maple syrup and ginger powder. Whisk well. 4. In a small bowl, whisk together cream cheese and brown sugar. 5. On two bread slices, spread the cream cheese mixture and put bacons (3 slices for each), dived the pears over 2 bread slices and put on bacons. Put American cheese (2 slices for each) and the other bread slices to close each sandwich. Then put the sandwiches into the egg mixture bowl. Soak the sandwiches for about 10 minutes (turning the sandwiches once half way through). 6. After 10 minutes, make sandwiches. In a large nonstick skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Put the sandwiches and cook over medium heat swirling occasionally until the bottom sides are golden brown. Turn the sandwiches, reduce heat to medium-low heat and cook swirling occasionally until cheese melt and bottom sides are golden brown. (As an option, to serve, sprinkle powder sugar over the sandwiches)
