Rumiano Cheese Claims Silver, Gold and Best of Division at 2013 Los Angeles Dairy Competition and California State Fair
2013 is turning out to be the year of butter for Rumiano Cheese Company. With our new butter churn -- installed earlier this year -- we're able to churn out about 10% more organic, Non-GMO butter than in past years. Butter talk is humming here at the factory because of some recent awards, but lest we forget, we "specialize" in cheese and we've got some news about both!
After the recent announcement of winners from the 2013 Los Angeles International Dairy Competition, we found out that both our salted and unsalted butter were awarded the gold medal! Rumiano's butter wasn't the only gold winner, our organic Pepper Jack, Smoked Mozzarella, and grass fed cow's milk Pepato Dry Jack all scored a gold medal as well. Our organic Medium Cheddar, coated Dry Jack, and organic Smoked Sharp Cheddar all scored silver medals in their respective divisions too as well. Not too shabby!
The 2013 California State Fair cheese competition was also in the last month. We were lucky enough to get a Best of Division/Gold for the "Hard Cheese" division with our Dry Jack! This is the first Best of Division award for us and the classic Dry Jack.
We're incredibly proud of our cheesemakers and the entire Rumiano Cheese Company team for continuing to make such great cheese.
