Director of Operations

Position Description: 

We are looking for a hands-on yet strategic Director of Operations to join our team - directing plant operations while driving strategic initiatives, continuous improvement, optimizing processes and mentoring team members. The position is based in Willows, California.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct optimum day-to-day plant operations to produce maximum business return; ensure rigor and consistency in planning, scheduling and production tracking
  • Responsible for achieving plant production goals while setting the highest standards in product quality, low costs, and customer satisfaction
  • Implement strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus; assist in the design and implementation of capital projects
  • Develop systems and processes that optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets; formulate and develop operating budget
  • Share a trusting relationship with workgroup, and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
  • Develop a well-trained and motivated staff by fostering team work and accountability to company
  • Stay current with latest production management and industry best practices to help continually evolve our products and business
  • Maintain a clean, effective, efficient, orderly and safe plant; direct plant policies and procedures; manage plant safety procedures and reporting
  • Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of production, quality assurance, purchasing, planning, administration/human resources, maintenance and shipping
  • Collect and analyze data to find waste or overtime and implement continuous improvement
  • Proactively monitor, maintain and repair all production equipment and fixed assets including buildings, grounds and storage facilities
  • Establish and maintain a positive employee, vendor/supplier, farmer and public service agency relationship

Qualifications: 

  • BA/BS in industrial, mechanical or business administration, a 4-year technical degree in related discipline or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years in a manufacturing management, preferably in process-oriented operations; 5+ years in a food production environment (ideally in the cheese industry)
  • Proven work experience as a plant or production manager; demonstrated managerial experience
  • Ability to leverage operational experience to think and act strategically
  • Experience with purchasing, production planning, packaging, quality, continuous improvement, maintenance, food processing and food safety practices
  • Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, team building, mentoring and people management skills
  • Ability to create accountability, lead by example and positively influence others
  • High level of integrity and honesty; excellent work ethic and ownership
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, ability to make decisions, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations
  • Experience with USDA, GMP’s, SQF, HACCP, OSHA, EHS, and Ammonia
  • Bilingual (Spanish speaking a plus)

Financial Analyst

Position Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated, high impact Financial Analyst to support finance, sales, production and distribution operations including detailed supply chain functions. The analyst will review and process purchasing, production and sales data, developing methods to yield understandable information which contributes to effective decision-making by the business. Key responsibilities include profitability analysis, analytical support to departmental and cross functional groups, evaluating sales opportunities, and providing insightful business information to promote profitable sales and efficient operating activities.The Financial Analyst utilizes sound financial and accounting concepts combined with analytics techniques supported by strong computer software skills to prepare routine reports as well as specialized reports, analyses and presentations. This position will own the process of the monthly financial forecast as well as all reporting requirements for the S&OP process. This position is based in Willows, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain company-wide information review processes, including: operational models, financial models, financial reporting, budgeting, hiring plans, cost accounting and analysis, and capital project analysis
  • Assist in the development of Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) methods and tools.
  • Help facilitate improving and formalizing all S&OP processes within the organization.
  • Bring financial rigor to operations, sales and marketing decisions to support growth, coordinating with all plant operations
  • Track financial results of the business through timely and accurate reporting and analysis; calculating SKU, customer, and business segment level profitability; identify price, volume and mix impacts
  • Prepare and review weekly and monthly financial reports to track financial status, monthly forecast estimate, quarterly projection, annual operating plan, long-range plan and pro forma analysis to support new business proposals and evaluations
  • Analyze financial results and complete variance analysis to forecast and plan; highlight key trends and issues and make recommendations
  • Perform various activities as part of the monthly/quarter close
  • Ensure accurate, consistent cost is being maintained in all systems, i.e. SDS, G2
  • Work with cross-functional teams to evaluate and understand how all costs factor into the profitability structure
  • Understand, analyze and make recommendations on financial performance as compared to industry benchmarks
  • Take responsibility for understanding product and process cost structures for different segments
  • Master costing systems and complete manufacturing variance analysis
  • Develop, maintain and distribute ad hoc analysis and financial models as needed
  • Provide support to senior management for special projects requiring critical thinking, analysis and advanced information processing skills
  • Verification of internal and external data to support 100% accuracy of data and analysis
  • Take initiative to gather and share relevant data with all parties to achieve a thorough understanding of all factors related to business analysis
  • Understand the sensitivity and confidentiality of information and practice professionalism and political awareness during discussions and meetings

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or similar; MBA a plus
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an analyst or accounting role
  • Experience with manufacturing and distribution of consumer products, ideally food and beverage products specifically
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, strong Excel; experience with ERP and reporting tools
  • Demonstrated success in roles requiring strong analytical and system skills
  • Must possess strong prioritization and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively
  • Experience in manufacturing cost methodologies, financial analysis and budgeting
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Self-Starter with a strong work ethic
  • Accounting or finance experience in food processing industry a big plus

Nav Specialist

Assist with NAV configuration for purchasing, receiving, inventory control, production scheduling and order fulfillment/shipping. Includes mobile device functionality for warehouse operations. Providing ongoing help desk support for approximately 15 users. One facility going online in October with a second facility planned for 2018. Food plant environment including catch weight production control and pallet license plates. Prior familiarity with BcERP highly desirable. Primary support anticipated to be remote but one or more visits to the plant site about an hour north of Sacramento will be required.

Production Line Associate

Job Description:

This position is responsible for a variety of duties including check weighing unpacked product, loading packaging machines, labeling packaged product, applying price labels to product, boxing finished product, palletizing of cases, and perform quality checks for labels, packaging material, etc. Required to work and communicate with others to ensure efficient production flow and throughput. A wide variety of duties, listed or not listed on this position description, may be required of this position. Duties and Responsibilities listed may refer to a specific department.

Physical Demands:

  • Fast paced, production line environment;
  • Lifting 40+ pounds consistently, depending on position;
  • Occasional exposure to cold (34 – 40 Degrees F) in cold storage;
  • Standing consistently throughout work shift;
  • Occasional overtime (10 hours) during week, with seldom weekends required.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily indoors;
  • Loud equipment (hearing protection required);
  • Occasional exposure to cold in cold storage;
  • Fast paced production/manufacturing line work.
