Rumiano Cheese Awarded Innovation in Food and Agriculture

North State Innovation Awards 2012

Earlier this month, the North State Innovation Awards 2012 was hosted at the Sierra Nevada Brewery. "Innovators, executives, educators and community leaders who enrich the California 530 area code were celebrated," and Rumiano Cheese Co. was invited to celebrate. The Innovate North State Awards have been an annual awards event since 1984 and has since included the entire 530 area code region (most of California north of Sacramento). The 53 finalists are honored because of their innovative products and game-changing impact at a statewide, national and global scale.

For the annual North State Innovation awards, Rumiano Cheese was honored with an award for Innovation in Food and Agriculture.

Rumiano Cheese Store Request Form is Now Live

As the Rumiano Family Organic (RFO) slowly gets more distribution throughout the U.S. (see UNFI Distribution), and the social outlets gain more recognition on the web, we often receive questions asking where our cheese is available. While we work on blanketing the United States with our organic Non-GMO Certified cheese, you, the consumer, are now able to request our cheese in your local natural food retailers!

The Rumiano Cheese Website now features a page that helps us help you. We want you to be able to purchase our cheese in any state, and with your help we can! Click here, or navigate to the "Store Locator" button on the top right of the Rumiano Cheese website. This will bring you to the "Store Request Form" page where you can fill out an online report. Make sure to leave your name, email address, store name, location and some comments on what types of cheese you are looking for. Hopefully with your requests, we will be able to provide some of our service to your area.

Meet Margaret Bagdons

As many of the readers know, the Rumiano Cheese Blog has been steadily growing over the past few months. We thank you all for taking interest in what our blog has to say, and urge you to keep reading and share with friends! Today is the mark of the newest feature on the Rumiano Cheese Blog; Employee Appreciation and profiles. Rumiano Cheese Co. is a family owned company, and family doesn't only apply to those with the Rumiano name. Hundreds of employees work hard every day to produce a quality product everyone can be proud in. There are those who have been with the family for over 20 years, and those who have only been involved for five months, but the amount of appreciation is existent throughout the company.

In today's feature, Retail Account Specialist Margaret Bagdons was interviewed. After working with the family for over 24 years, she has become irreplaceable. If you have concerns about cheese arriving to a customer on time, talk to Margaret; if you need cheese for a trade-show, talk to Margaret. Or maybe you could use some gift baskets during the holidays, talk to Margaret! Margaret is a key player for the Rumiano team and has earned MUCH appreciation.

Fourteen Rumiano Products Approved for UNFI Distribution:

At Natural Products Expo West 2012, the Rumiano Cheese Company was proud to announcethe approval for distribution of fourteen new products for the United States' East Coast. United Natural Foods (UNFI) will begin distribution of the "Rumiano Family Organic" (RFO) line of organic verified non-GMO cheese in the "eastern region" later this Spring.

UNFI is the nation's leading independent natural foods distributor which supplies the continental U.S. from coast to coast, and has approved the allocation of the only verified non-GMO cheese under the Non-GMO Project. Announced at a broker meeting, the values of the RFO cheese line were explained and discussed with brokers from across the United States.

Rumiano’s “Peppercorn Dry-Jack” receives 4th place honors at the World Championship Cheese Contest in Wisconsin.

Rumiano Cheese Receives Honor at World Championship Cheese Contest

The Rumiano Cheese Company's artisan Dry Monterey Jack with Peppercorns has just received fourth place in the World Championship Cheese Contest earlier today with a score of 97.85. It placed fourth only missing third place by .05 points in the "Flavored Hard Cheese" category. This cheese has been one of the company's most notable and highly praised cheese through the decades, as the first generation Rumiano's were said to have developed the aged wheel for markets in the early years of the 20th century.

This isn't the first time Rumiano Cheese Co. has received prizes or mentions in competitions; the last two years, Rumiano Cheese Co. has collected over eight gold medals and first place awards from the California State Fair, American Cheese Society Competition and Los Angeles International Dairy Competition. This is the second time this cheese has climbed to a fourth place ranking in the World Championship Cheese Contest as well.

Our Smoked Mozzarella in the Grilled Cheese Invitational

This year's entertaining and delicious Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational in Los Angeles featured Rumiano Cheese in the winning sandwich by Micah Fields, Executive Chef at The Standard Hotel.

Chef Fields won his round of "The Hot Knives Thunderdome" with his recipe for The Melted Mushroom, which included our very own Rumiano Smoked Mozzarella, along with bacon bread, wild mushrooms and ramp vinaigrette.

Rumiano Cheese Wins 1st and 2nd Place Awards

Top Awards for Rumiano at 2009 American Cheese Society

Rumiano Cheese Company won 1st and 2nd place awards at the 2009 American Cheese Society (ACS) Judging and Competition in Austin, Texas. Both awards were in the American Originals category.

The 1st place award was for Rumiano's Old Fashioned Monterey Jack under Monterey Jack - Cows Milk - Open Category Made from Cows Milk. The 2nd place award was for its Dry Monterey Jack under the Open Category Made from Cows Milk.

"We are extremely happy and proud of everyone involved with Rumiano Cheese Company for receiving these awards in this prestigious contest. Rumiano Cheese Company has always put forth a team effort, from the dairies to the stores. Rumiano Cheese Company is proud of everyone involved in the making and distribution of its products,” says Joby Rumiano.
